The BRASCO research group is very excited to have shared the latest advancement of the research in the engaging environment offered by the researcher meet-up organised by the Analytics for a Better World platform (https://analyticsbetterworld.org/). The recording of the webinar is available online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLk7vU5A1j8) , illustrating how operational research can support Brazilian smallholder farmers to distribute their produce through institutional markets. The webinar explored the multiple decisions smallholder farmers are required to make during the PNAE program, from the tactical decision to bid or not to bid for individual contracts at schools up to the operational decisions related to the vehicle routing problem.
The research targets three Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to end poverty (#SDG1), end hunger and achieve food security (#SDG2) as well as reduce inequalities (#SDG10).
The work presented at the meet-up is a joint collaboration of Andrea Tuni (Politecnico di Torino, Italy), Athanasios Rentizelas (National Technical University of Athens, Greece), Maico Roris Severino (Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil), Helio Fuchigami (Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Brazil), Luisa Queiroz Barbosa (Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil), Andreas Rudi (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germay) and Frank Schultmann (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germay).
