Visit to Brasil by the Strathclyde Project's Team

After the last visit from the brazilian researchers, the scottish team (Andrea Tuni e Athanasios Rentizelas) visited  Brasil for the second time from 19 to 23 august 2019, that consisted in the last scheduled week named “Working Together”. The scottish team joined with researchers Paulo Nocera Alves Junior and Isotilia Costa Melo from the University of Sao Paulo, Jose Carlos Alvarez Merino from the Peruan University of Applied Sciense and Yoshiaki Shimbo from the Federal University of Sao Carlos, with a total number of ten researchers participating in this week from UFG.

The main activities included the visit to the Canudos settlement to discuss the progress made by the research team and validate the decision support models developed with the farmers, in order to capture the opinions of the intended users, as well as the planning of the final stages of the project, including publications of articles and the development of an application to make the models easy to use for farmers. In addition, the 1st School Feeding and Family Farming Seminar was held on August 22, bringing about 100 participants to UFG representing the various actors involved in the PNAE process, including politicians, school administrators and nutritionists, in addition to family farmers .
